How to Solve the Immigration Problem in America

Use the Alphabet!

There is no doubt that many see illegal immigration as a huge problem in America today. And, surprising at it might be, I "understand" Arizona's desire to do something about it.

Sunday Inspirations: A Child of Mine

This truth according to SjP for Sunday, October 04, 2009
Good Afternoon, Sojourners. Sunday Inspirations, weekly feature here at Sojourner's Place, is just one way to help get us through the week ahead, the trials we may face, and yes, to say Thank Ya and testify!

My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the hundreds of families of Chicago school aged children who have fallen as a result of violence during the past year. Loosing a child, under any circumstances, must be the hardest burden that anyone could bear. For me, it is simply unimaginable.

Yet, with a blink of an eye, I realize more than ever that my world could be turned upside down as a result of loosing a child. I thank God that this is not a cup from which I have had to drink. The poem below is offered in true and sincere sympathy for all parents who have not been as fortunate.

A Child of Mine

"I'll lend you for a little time,
a child of Mine," He said,
"For you to love the while she lives,
and mourn when she is dead.

It may be six or seven years,
or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call her back,
take care of her for Me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
and should her her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories
as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I've looked the wide world over
in My search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes
I have selected you.

Now will you give her all your love,
nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call
to take her home again!"

We fancied that we heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter her with tenderness,
we'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
forever grateful stay;

But should the angels call for her
much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand."
