Old School Friday: Jailhouse Rock

Oh Yeah! It's FRIDAY!!! And that means it's time for some old school jamming and par-taying in the blogosphere! This week's theme is "Criminal Record" or as SjP would say "Jailhouse Rock". The unfortunate thing about this theme is that there are too many artist to choose from that whose musical resume includes some crooning behind bars. Let's see, we got Bobbie and Dianna and Rick and Chris, just to name a few off the top of my head.

And then we have the two I feature here today. Back in the day, you could always count on the Isley Brothers, featuring Ronald Isley, to define each summer with a predictable and long awaited album. We all bought it; but unfortunately Ron decided he didn't have to pay the IRS. So all we can hope for is that he's not doing nothing "Between the Sheets" in Terre Haute, IN. This one is one of my favorites by the Isley Brothers.

I will forever associate this next crooner with The Impressions. No, its not Curtis or even Jerry, but none other than the Duke of Earl himself - Gene Chandler. But, a drug possession took him from the land of Earl and landed him in Marion Federal Penitentiary for a little bit. Wonder if he thought of this cut during his stay...
